Thank you so much Nisreen for giving us the opportunity to have a stall at island market from all of us at The Pearl Protectors. much love
The Island Market was born from Nisreen Desanayake’s desire to create a platform that empowered small businesses, especially female entrepreneurs and individuals who are differently abled. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people lost their jobs, and for countless women, financial independence slipped away. Nisreen envisioned a space where these women could regain their freedom by showcasing their creativity, skills, and products in a supportive environment.
The Island Market empowers startup owners by providing a platform for networking, growth, and customer engagement, fostering sustainable businesses and local economic development.
To create an inclusive marketplace where small businesses, especially those led by underrepresented groups, can thrive and contribute to their communities.
Island Market provides a dynamic platform for small, home-based vendors, especially during times of economic instability and job losses. Many of these vendors lack the resources to open physical stores and face challenges in showcasing their products, particularly female entrepreneurs and individuals with disabilities. We are committed to empowering these vendors by offering networking, partnership opportunities, and increased visibility.
We offer our vendors a prime opportunity to showcase your products in a prominent location that draws the elite Colombo crowd. With a lively carnival atmosphere, our events not only create a memorable shopping experience but also provides a platform for brand promotion through extensive media campaigns. Vendors can leverage this exposure to build a loyal customer base and grow your business in a vibrant, high-profile setting.
Charitable organizations are offered free spaces at our market to help promote their causes.
